Investment and Accountancy Evening II
The Risk Investment and Accountancy Evenings Committee organizes four evenings this year. For these evenings, a variety of professional speakers and companies are invited to discuss relevant themes in the financial world. On this evening, two rooms will be available and two speakers are invited, of whom one will discuss an investment theme and the other will discuss an accountancy or controlling theme.
Accountancy & Controlling: The Police
The speaker of the second Accountancy Evening will be Gert-Jan Boone, Operational Specialist in Financial Economic Crime at the Dutch police. After 10 years of audit experience at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, he joined the police force to fight financial crimes like money laundering and fraud. During an interactive lecture he will discuss how these financial crimes happen and on what scale. Moreover, he will talk about the role of the auditor in detecting money laundering schemes and fraud. Is that the responsibility of the auditor, and is the current approach for this effective? These questions will be discussed during the evening.
Investment: UBS Asset Management
For the second Investment Evening this year we invited Tim van Duren, Head of Institutional Business, Benelux and Denmark. UBS Asset Management is the investment manager of the Swiss bank UBS and has 708 billion euros in assets under management. UBS Asset Management will discuss one of the hottest topics in the current investment management industry, which is Sustainability and Responsibility. The importance of the focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and the presence or absence of excess return in sustainable investing are subjects that will be discussed.
